The Eagle Project is a non-governmental organisation working in youth prisons in São Paulo, Brazil. The programme ‘Breaking the Chains’ offers help to those preparing for their release, with Drama Workshops based on Restorative Justice, guest speakers and professional help for their families for two years after their release. The aim of the programme is to reduce the rate of reoffence and help these young people find a new future.

Finding God Already There

ON VISITING THE YOUTH PRISON IN SAO PAULO AND FINDING GOD ALREADY THERE
Imagine our surprise when instead of being shown around Sao Paulo, the city, our friends George and Cally called my colleague Nick and me at the hotel to tell us we were going to visit the youth prison where George and Cally work out their calling and The Eagle Project has its impact on the ground. We were both thrilled and daunted, not least because prison regulations meant Nick had to change from his shorts into long trousers with little notice having already checked out of the hotel and packed his bag.
